goes....Nordic! 30 nov.

On 30 November 2017 Cinema Studies at Stockholm University and the Swedish Film Institute co-organize a joint research day within the framework of our collaboration with the Norwegian National Library and Copenhagen University around the website Nordic Women in Film.

Transnordic Trajectories: Past, Present and Future Film History through Nordic Women in Film

Our network, financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers Gender Equality Fund, has over the course of 2017 worked on a new version of the site Nordic Women in Film, including texts by Danish and Norwegian writers, and organized research seminars in Oslo and Copenhagen. Now we arrange a one-day symposium in Stockholm.

In the morning we will discuss a new report on equality in Swedish film, and listen to presentations about new research about women and film in Sweden, as well as hear about new projects from practitioners based in Sweden. The afternoon and evening will focus on women directors and screenwriters in Norway and Denmark active in various historical periods, including filmmakers whose careers have traversed Nordic borders.

In addition, we will introduce the new, ”more Nordic” version of the website Nordic Women in Film.

The day ends with Cinemateket showing films by Harriet Bloch, accompanied by live music.
